The KSD Model C55 is the newest addition to the KSD lineup, and it’s quickly becoming a standout choice for engineers and producers who demand clarity, accuracy, and translation. In this video, Jeff from Providence Sound and Vision breaks down what makes the C55 special—from its coaxial driver design and phase-aligned bass to its compatibility with immersive mixing systems like Dolby Atmos.
At the core of the KSD C55 is KSD’s proprietary FIRTEC system: a proprietary DSP platform built around custom FPGAs that use phase-linear FIR filters to align the entire speaker system in time and space. Originally designed to meet the demands of the tonmeister standard for classical and broadcast work, this level of precision benefits all genres—bringing newfound definition to modern low-end heavy music like trap, EDM, and hip hop.
Each speaker features a coaxial 5.5-inch fiberglass midrange/bass cone with a centered tweeter and an additional 5.5-inch woofer for extended low end, reaching down to a usable 35 Hz. Instead of relying on traditional bass reflex ports (which often exaggerate frequencies between 70–100 Hz), the C55 uses a dual rear port design that gently boosts sub-35 Hz content, then flattens it out via FIRTEC correction—resulting in clean, honest bass that translates reliably outside the studio.
The C55 also features built-in shelving EQ, an optional remote with 6-band parametric EQ and digital delay, and versatile placement options (vertical or horizontal). This flexibility makes the C55 an ideal choice for stereo or Atmos monitoring setups. In fact, the immersive room at Alex Pro Mix uses the C55 for its surround channels—proving these compact monitors punch well above their size.
Available in white, cherry, or black, the KSD C55 is now shipping and available to demo anywhere in the U.S. Providence Sound and Vision offers personal support to help you find the right monitor for your room, workflow, and budget.
