The Phantom AE, short for Anniversary Edition, represents a limited production series based on Brauner Microphones’ popular Phantom C model. Crafted to commemorate the company’s 10th anniversary, both the Phantom AE and Phantom C are fixed-cardioid, large-diaphragm FET condenser microphones. Despite the AE being priced more affordably, it matches the Phantom C in terms of components, construction quality, and sound output.
Originally introduced as a batch of 1000 microphones with black bodies, the Phantom AE later expanded to include a second run featuring 1000 units with nickel-plated exteriors.
Dirk Brauner affirms that the Phantom C, Phantom AE, and the then-current Phantom Classic (circa 2009) share identical circuitry design, with only minor modifications that don’t impact the sonic character. These microphones feature the same capsule, making them akin in performance. The variations among them lie in the name, color, and pricing. Despite these differences, specific details may be challenging to pinpoint.
This microphone has been fully tested and comes with a 7-day money back trial period.
