Drawmer 1961 Vintage Tube Equaliser
Classic Tube Warmth Meets Modern Performance
The Drawmer 1961 Vintage Tube Equaliser provides the unique warmth and musicality of vacuum tubes while meeting the high technical standards required in today’s digital recording environment. Designed to complement the acclaimed Drawmer 1960 Mic Pre-Amp Vacuum Tube Compressor, the 1961 combines low noise circuitry with twelve active tube stages to deliver two channels of exceptional equalization, each with its own distinctive character.
Unlike many modern designs, the 1961 uses rotary step-switching for frequency control, similar to vintage units. This approach optimizes the performance of each frequency band across the entire audio spectrum, making setup more accurate and reliable, especially when working with stereo signals.
Control the Warmth
The Drawmer 1961 allows you to control the amount of tube-driven warmth by adjusting how hard you drive the tubes. Whether you need a clean, precise sound akin to the best discrete solid-state designs, or a classic hot tube character, the 1961 can deliver.
The 1961 can also be linked with the Drawmer 1960 to create a two-channel vacuum tube mixing console—an ideal mastering or post-production audio sweetening tool.
Features
- Input Level Control: A variable input level of -20dB to +20dB allows compatibility with a wide range of input sources. LED bargraph displays give a clear indication of the input signal level, and allow you to adjust the tube drive as needed.
- High Pass Filter: A 12dB/octave high-pass filter, adjustable from 15Hz to 500Hz, removes unwanted low frequencies and sub-sonic noise.
- Equalisation: Each channel features four EQ sections with six overlapping frequencies and a dedicated tube stage for increased harmonic clarity. Variable bandwidth (0.3 to 3 octaves) and up to ±18dB of cut/boost provide great flexibility.
- Low Pass Filter: A 12dB/octave low-pass filter, adjustable from 2.5kHz to 56kHz, helps reduce high-frequency interference or limit high frequencies.
- Output Stage: Two additional tube stages in the output section allow for “soft clipping.” You can adjust the input level while monitoring the “Soft” and “O/L” (Overload) LEDs.
- Bypass: Each parametric/shelving filter section has an independent bypass switch, enabling easy A-B comparisons. A master bypass switch can disable all filters and the output stage tube circuitry, providing straightforward control during mixing and mastering sessions.
- Operating Level: Switchable between -10dBu and +4dBu using a rear panel control for better flexibility across different studio setups.
- Insert Connections: Rear panel insert point ¼” jack connectors enable direct connection to the Drawmer 1960 for powerful signal processing without requiring a mixing console.
- Inputs and Outputs: Balanced XLR inputs and outputs are provided, making integration with your setup quick and easy.
