Drawmer 1970 Dual FET Compressor & Pre-Amplifier
Ultra Versatile, Vintage & Maximum Control
The Drawmer 1970 Dual FET Compressor and Pre-Amplifier builds on the heritage of the illustrious Drawmer 1960, one of the first professional audio toolbox compressors. Featuring an expanded feature set, the 1970 brings vintage audio characteristics at an affordable price, making it one of the most adaptable mic preamplifier/compressors available today.
The 1970 provides versatile control, whether tracking instruments through the dedicated D.I. input, recording vocals via ultra-clean mic pres, capturing guitar cabinets with multiple microphones, or applying stereo bus compression. Its flexibility makes it ideal for both studio and live applications.
Pristine & Versatile Pre-Amplifier
The 1970 uses the latest THAT Corporation technology in its two mic preamps, offering ultra-clean, transparent recordings that can be enhanced using your favorite warming methods such as saturation, valve, transformer, or tape. Each channel provides up to 66dB of gain, with switchable mic impedance to match a wide range of microphones and maximize their performance. Additional features include phantom power, phase reverse, and a high-pass filter.
Creative Mic Impedance
The 1970 offers three impedance settings per mic input: 200, 600, and 2400 Ohms, providing the ability to explore different tonal characteristics. Depending on the microphone, mismatching impedance can create unique tonal effects, making the 1970 an excellent choice for creative sound exploration.
Comprehensive Compression Control
The dual compression section includes threshold, ratio, attack, and release controls, along with Drawmer’s exclusive “Big” and “Air” features on each channel. The compressor can be used as two separate mono compressors or linked for stereo bus compression, ensuring precise control without image shifting.
Super Clean Bypass
The 1970 offers an ultra-clean microphone signal via its THAT Corporation mic amplifiers by utilizing a fully balanced hard-wire bypass, which connects the input source directly to the output without passing through the FET compressor, mix, or gain controls.
Mix Control for Precise Compression
Each channel of the 1970 features a Mix control, providing a simple way to blend the compressed (wet) and original (dry) signals. This allows precise control over the amount of compression applied. The Mix control is perfect for preventing over-compression while maintaining a natural sound, or for increasing compression intensity as desired.
The Versatile Audio Toolbox
The Drawmer 1970 is the ultimate do-anything recording channel, capable of handling a wide range of audio sources from line-level signals to microphones, guitars, synths, and low-impedance or ribbon microphones.
