Drawmer 1974 Stereo Parametric Equaliser
Vintage, 4 Band & Versatile
The vintage-style fully stereo Drawmer 1974 four-band Parametric Equaliser provides exceptional analogue musicality and sonic clarity, taking its inspiration from 1970s-era gear. It has the ability to perform subtle shaping for mastering purposes that require a delicate touch and easy recall, but is just as capable of tonal sculpting, adding the analogue warmth and character that is near impossible to emulate in the digital domain.
The 1974 offers immersive stereo operation, with one set of controls for both channels. The versatile design features dual-channel precision stepped potentiometers, providing exceptional accuracy for fast and simple recall. The fully variable bandwidth allows you to control the parametric mid bands, making adjustments as surgically precise or as broad and natural-sounding as required. Fully adjustable low and high cut filters are also included, ideal for tuning out undesirable signals at the frequency extremes. It also features switchable slopes on the low and high bands, allowing you to alter the focus at the top and bottom frequencies, plus a low peak setting that magnifies the bottom end. The 1974 is perfect for tonal shaping, staying true to the sound of the ’70s and is ideal for any musician.
Genuine Stereo Operation with Indented and Accurate Potentiometers
The genuine stereo-linked operation of the 1974 makes adjustments quick and extremely simple using just one set of controls to alter both channels. Gone is the wasted time spent trying to match the settings of the left and right channels manually. The 1974 uses precision potentiometers, each matched for left/right accuracy within fine tolerances, ensuring both channels operate identically. The indented operation provides exceptional accuracy for fast and simple recall.
Fully Parametric with Totally Variable Bandwidth
The 1974 is a true ‘parametric’ equaliser, with all four bands offering fully variable frequency controls and +/-12dB of cut and boost. Unlike EQs with no bandwidth adjustment or a simple switch, the two mid bands of the 1974 feature completely variable filter bandwidth controls, allowing the user to focus on very narrow sections of the audio spectrum or apply a broad, natural-sounding filter. This makes the 1974 incredibly versatile, capable of everything from subtly fine-tuning mixes to sculpting problematic recordings.
Variable Low and High Cut Filters
The 1974 includes fully variable low and high cut filters, ideal for tuning out undesirable signals. The low cut (high-pass filter) has a range of 10Hz-225Hz, and the high cut (low-pass filter) ranges from 4kHz-32kHz. The fully variable nature of these controls makes it easy to sweep and find the perfect settings, providing pinpoint accuracy in removing unwanted sounds. This feature is especially useful for bracketing individual tracks, where cutting the bass can remove rumble and cutting the top end can reduce hiss, tightening up the mix and providing extra headroom.
Switchable Slope Setting
Few analogue parametric equalisers offer adjustable slopes on the low and high bands, but the 1974 includes this feature for additional control over your audio. The filter slopes are musically tuned to allow you to adjust the focus of the audio at the frequency extremes without sounding overly harsh. At the low end, slopes of 6, 9, and 12dB per octave are available, along with a Peak setting that adds a narrow bell shape to the filter at the knee frequency. This Peak setting is particularly useful on kick drums, adding weight and precision while filtering out subsonic junk without muddying the lower mids.
