Drawmer CMC7 Surround Monitor Controller
Surround, Accurate & Compact
The Drawmer CMC7 is a compact 8-channel / 7.1 / 5.1 surround volume controller and a cost-effective alternative to the more complex and feature-rich MC7.1. To maintain its compact proportions and budget-friendly price, the CMC7 focuses on essential features such as ease of use and high-quality signal path, ensuring transparency and accuracy across all channels.
The number of users interested in surround audio continues to grow, driven by advancements in products like Blu-ray players, home cinema, and mobile devices. For example, Apple devices have supported 7.1 surround since iOS 9.3. The budget-friendly CMC7 allows artists and engineers to explore surround sound without the high cost typically associated with such setups.
Accurate & Transparent
The CMC7 shares the same high-quality lineage as the MC2.1, MC3.1, and MC7.1. Its circuit is transparent and accurate, with controls offering a quality feel and operation. The large volume knob ensures excellent channel matching and a smooth experience, so you can trust that what you hear is exactly what you’ve recorded.
Surround Sound Capability
The CMC7 provides 8 inputs and outputs via two balanced 25-pin D-sub connectors wired to the Tascam standard, making connection easy. It supports 8 independent channels, including formats like 5.1, 7.1, quadraphonic, DTS®, Dolby Digital EX, THX Surround EX™, and DTS-HD™. The setup can be customized based on the user’s needs.
With the Stereo Mix switch, you can downmix the surround mix to a 2.1 signal on the front left and right monitors and subwoofer to check the quality in stereo. Additionally, the CMC7 features a professional-quality stereo headphone output with a separate amplifier and level control, providing private mix checking. The unit also includes a DIM switch to reduce output by 20dB and a MUTE switch to cut the output completely.
Precision Control
The circuit design of the CMC7 ensures that channel matching across all 8 channels is consistent throughout the full range of the volume control. Unlike other surround controllers that use multi-ganged potentiometers, which can lead to discrepancies in channel levels, the CMC7 maintains accuracy even at extreme volume settings.
Compact & Rugged Design
Despite its extensive features, the CMC7 has a compact footprint of just 18x16cm with a very low profile, making it a space-efficient addition to any setup. Its rugged, all-steel enclosure ensures durability, while a Kensington security slot provides added protection against theft.
