Drawmer DMS-2 D-Clock Word-Clock Measurement Distribution Amplifier

The Drawmer DMS-2 D-Clock is a powerful word-clock measurement distribution amplifier, designed to offer precise clock distribution across a wide range of digital audio equipment. Featuring dual inputs and twenty outputs, the D-Clock allows synchronization of outboard processors to the system clock rate with zero latency. The 16-character blue LCD display provides a high-accuracy reference measurement of the incoming sample rate, making it an essential tool for any digital studio environment.

Zero Latency I/O

The D-Clock features AES/EBU and BNC word clock inputs, with a zero latency loop-through output and switchable high impedance to ensure the correct level of the digital signal for further distribution. Sixteen BNC clock outputs are located on the rear panel, while four additional BNC clock outputs on the front panel offer quick access for patching to other digital devices, providing maximum versatility for any studio setup.

High Accuracy LCD Display

The D-Clock is equipped with a high-stability TCXO (temperature compensated crystal oscillator) and microcontroller to measure the incoming sample rate with an accuracy of 2ppm. The information is displayed in three formats: actual frequency (to one decimal place), nominal frequency with +/- ppm error, or nominal frequency plus percentage of pull up or pull down. This allows engineers to monitor the clock rate with precision and confidence.

Master Clock Versatility

The D-Clock’s word clock outputs can be fed from the word clock input at any sample rate between 32kHz and 768kHz. It can also derive the clock from an AES11 input or an AES3 audio signal at sample rates between 32kHz and 192kHz. This means that even products without a dedicated word clock output, such as analog-to-digital converters or mic pre-amplifiers with internal A/D conversion, can be used as the master word clock source for the entire digital studio, providing a flexible and reliable master clock solution.
