The Drawmer DL241 Dual Channel ‘Auto-Compressor’ marks a new generation of dynamic processors, setting a high standard for sonic excellence. Expander/Gate
The DL241 features Drawmer’s unique “Programmed Adaptive Expansion” circuitry, providing effective single-control operation. This dynamic expander adapts its attack, release, and ratio to match the incoming audio signal, eliminating unwanted ‘chatter’ around the threshold. The Expander/Gate offers an 80dB range and a variable threshold from +20dB to -70dB, with an OFF position for the gate. Switchable ‘Fast’ or ‘Slow’ release modes allow users to tailor the gate’s response, with ‘Fast’ suited for instruments with rapid decay times and ‘Slow’ ideal for vocals and instruments with longer decay times.
Compressor
The DL241 includes a full auto attack/release compressor with variable threshold and ratio controls, combining the smoothness of the ‘Soft Knee’ compression with precise control over the ratio. The selectable manual or fully automatic attack and release times extend the DL241’s versatility across a wide range of applications. The ‘Auto’ mode is particularly useful for unpredictable or inconsistent dynamics, such as processing a complete mix or a dynamic instrument performance. Under manual control, users can adjust the settings to achieve both dynamic effects and traditional compression.
Peak Level Control
The DL241 features ‘Zero Response Time’ and ‘Zero Overshoot’ circuitry, providing an adjustable peak level limiter from 0dB to +16dB above system level. This advanced limiting ensures complete protection against overloads, avoiding distortion when mastering for digital formats or protecting speaker systems in live sound applications.
