Drawmer MX60-Pro Front End One
Channel Strip, Dynamics & Tube Saturation
The Drawmer MX60-Pro Front End One is a versatile mic/line/instrument input channel designed to provide high-quality Drawmer processing before tape or hard disc recording. It features a studio-grade mic preamp, Program Adaptive™ gate, de-esser, compressor, limiter, three-band EQ, and multi-band tube saturation stage—all within a single rack space. The MX60 is ideal for project studios, live sound, and recording applications, offering more options compared to competitive units.
Pedigree of Professional Audio
The MX60-Pro draws on years of Drawmer’s expertise in developing high-quality dynamic signal processors. The MX Pro range provides top-notch performance without the high cost, aimed at musicians, project studios, and live performers who don’t want to compromise on quality. By incorporating elements from other successful Drawmer products while simplifying control systems, the MX Pro range offers quality and simplicity without sacrificing sophisticated audio performance.
Drawmer’s Grass Roots Technology
The MX60 takes its inspiration from several of Drawmer’s most successful products. The mic preamp uses the same discrete component design as the Drawmer 1960, the de-esser is derived from the MX50, the VCA-based compressor takes after the MX30, and the peak limiter and gate have their roots in the DL241 compressor/limiter.
Comprehensive Control
Input Stage
The input stage can accept mic, line, or instrument signals, with a switchable 48V phantom power and phase reverse option. The XLR mic input provides balanced +4dB, and an unbalanced -10dB jack is also available. A high impedance instrument jack is located on the front panel for electric guitars, basses, synths, and drum machines.
Program Adaptive Gate
Drawmer’s Program Adaptive™ circuitry ensures that time constants are automatically optimized for the incoming material, providing stable gating and eliminating chatter. The gate offers a single threshold control with switchable fast/slow auto-release.
De-Esser
The MX60-Pro features a floating threshold de-esser that automatically adjusts its own threshold for precise sibilance control. With a switchable male/female setting and adjustable de-essing level, it avoids the lisping effect often caused by simpler de-essers.
EQ
The MX60 includes high and low shelving sections along with a fully parametric mid-range EQ that offers variable frequency, Q, and ±18dB cut/boost control.
Compressor
A high-quality VCA compressor, similar to the MX30 and DL241, is included with Program Adaptive™ attack and release, allowing users to only adjust ratio, threshold, and makeup gain.
Tubesound
The multi-band tube saturation stage allows users to create subtle warming effects or more pronounced tube saturation effects through three independently adjustable audio bands. Low settings across all bands replicate the classic tube microphone sound.
Output Stage
The output stage includes a limiter with a preset threshold (+16dB) and a variable master fader that sets the overall output level. Output bargraph metering is available, and a two-stage soft/hard limiting approach is indicated by yellow and red LEDs, respectively.
