Lauten Audio Clarion FC-357 Multi-Pattern FET Condenser Microphone

The Lauten Audio Clarion FC-357 is a multi-pattern FET condenser microphone built around a custom 35mm dual-diaphragm capsule, hand-tuned for a vintage tonal character with extended high-frequency air. The signal path uses high-resolution, low-distortion polypropylene capacitors, a U.S.-made low-noise FET, and a custom-wound output transformer, combining vintage FET character with a self-noise floor below 12dB(A) and a maximum SPL of 130dB. Three selectable polar patterns—cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8—make the Clarion FC-357 a versatile studio microphone suited to vocals, kick drum, bass guitar, and room recording applications. The microphone is designed and built in Northern California and finished in a ceramic Cerekote coating; it ships in a wooden case with shock mount.

Key Features

  • Custom 35mm dual-diaphragm capsule — hand-tuned for vintage FET sound with extended high-frequency clarity; dual-diaphragm construction enables the three selectable polar patterns and contributes to depth and transient response
  • U.S.-made low-noise FET — self-noise below 12dB(A); 130dB max SPL; 120dB dynamic range minimum; suited to both delicate acoustic sources and high-SPL applications
  • Three selectable polar patterns — Cardioid, Omnidirectional, Figure-8; pattern selection tailors what the microphone captures and how it rejects off-axis sound
  • Custom-wound output transformer — transformer-balanced output; <200Ω output impedance
  • Polypropylene capacitor signal path — high-resolution, low-distortion capacitors and resistors throughout
  • Cerekote ceramic finish — durable ceramic polymer coating
  • Designed and built in Northern California
  • Includes wooden case and shock mount
