Lauten Audio LA-220 V2 Large-Diaphragm FET Condenser Microphone

The Lauten Audio LA-220 V2 is a transformer-balanced FET condenser microphone built around the same hand-tuned 32mm center-terminated capsule used in the tube-circuit LA-320 V2, running directly from 48V phantom power without requiring an external power supply. The signal path is hand-soldered with high-resolution polypropylene capacitors and resistors, a U.S.-made ultra-low-noise JFET, and a vintage-inspired output transformer—delivering the analog warmth and natural compression characteristic of the shared capsule design in a self-contained, phantom-powered format. Onboard high-pass (Flat/120Hz) and low-pass (Flat/12kHz) switches allow tonal shaping at the source, covering the range from a fuller, open response to a controlled presence that manages high-frequency edge on instruments like electric guitar. The LA-220 V2 is designed and tested in Northern California and ships with a spider shock mount and microphone bag.

Key Features

  • 32mm center-terminated capsule — shared with the LA-320 V2 — the same hand-tuned transducer used in Lauten Audio’s tube-circuit LA-320 V2; center-terminated design imparts gentle natural compression and tonal balance, making it particularly effective on sources that are traditionally difficult to capture
  • Transformer-balanced FET signal path — U.S.-made ultra-low-noise JFET; vintage-inspired output transformer; high-resolution polypropylene capacitors and resistors throughout; self-noise below 15dB-A; 120dB minimum dynamic range
  • Phantom-powered — no external PSU required — 3-pin XLR connection; runs from standard 48V phantom power; compatible with any interface or preamp that provides phantom power
  • High-pass filter — Flat or 120Hz; reduces low-frequency content and proximity effect
  • Low-pass filter — Flat or 12kHz; rolls off high-frequency content for a more controlled response on instruments with pronounced high-frequency harshness
  • Designed and tested in Northern California
  • Includes spider shock mount and microphone bag
