Overview

Introducing the PREQ2™ by Mäag Audio, a dual mic preamp with EQ that combines analog precision for both recording and mixing, housed in a 1U standalone unit. The PREQ2 comes with Cliff Mäag’s legendary Air Band® shelving equalizer, first introduced in 1993 with the NTI EQ3 equalizer, ensuring top-tier sound quality.

  • Dual matched channels with separate rear panel line level input and microphone XLR connectors.
  • Switchable +48-volt phantom powering for flexibility with different microphones.
  • Discrete Class-A transistor preamp with nickel-core Mäag Audio-built input transformer for clean, detailed sound.
  • Mic preamp offers up to 71dB of gain with a high gain mode (up to +71dB) using the 25dB gain switch.
  • Line level toggle switch for easy input switching between microphone and line sources.
  • 1 mega-ohm instrument input with companion Thru jack, allowing for direct recording and re-amplification capabilities.
  • High and low gain ranges selectable for optimized input control.
  • Three EQ/filter sections for tonal enhancement and correction:
    • High pass filter with a sweep range from 20Hz to 200Hz.
    • Low Frequency bell-shaped equalizer with boost up to 9dB, with selectable frequencies ranging from 10Hz to 165Hz.
    • Air Band shelving equalizer with frequency choices: 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 40 kHz for euphonic tonal enhancement.
  • All switches have LED indicators, and all controls are detented except for the mic gain control for easy recall.
