• Advanced VCA Topology: Unlike diode bridge designs that add heavy coloration, the 543 utilizes a very accurate, low-noise VCA. This ensures immense dynamic control and subtle warmth without leaving a heavy sonic imprint on tracks or mixes.

• Feed-Forward and Feed-Back Modes: Rupert Neve Designs included a toggle to change where the VCA control voltage is captured. Feed-back mode provides the smoother, more musical response characteristic of classic vintage designs, while Feed-forward mode offers the faster, more technically accurate response required for modern envelope shaping.

• Peak and RMS Detection: The 543 can respond to either RMS levels—mimicking the way the human ear perceives loudness—or Peak levels, which are essential for preventing clipping and maximizing signal voltage.
