The R6 is a six-space 500 Series rack designed for the engineer who requires absolute reliability and sonic integrity. Rupert Neve Designs engineered the R6 to solve common power and noise issues found in lesser racks, providing a “bulletproof” foundation for any modular signal chain. With more than 150% of the required current capacity and an extensive array of I/O options, the R6 ensures that every module performs at its maximum potential, whether in a high-end studio or a mobile recording rig.
Abundant Power Reserves: The R6 provides a total of 1000mA for modules and 150mA for 48V phantom power. This massive reserve prevents power rails from sagging or failing, even when populated with the most power-hungry boutique modules.
Double-Shielded Internal PSU: To maintain a whisper-quiet noise floor, Rupert Neve Designs utilized a double-shielded internal power supply. This design prevents magnetic induction from leaking into adjacent modules, preserving the purity of the audio signal.
LED Current Monitoring: A front-panel LED meter provides real-time monitoring of the rack’s power usage. This feature allows engineers to troubleshoot problematic modules immediately and ensure the system is operating within safe limits.
Unrivaled Connectivity: The back panel acts as a versatile patchbay, featuring eight channels of balanced I/O including XLR, TRS, and DB-25 connections. These can be used interchangeably, providing essential flexibility for various studio environments.
THRU Functionality: Channels 7 and 8 feature “Thru” I/O, allowing the R6 to function as a format converter between XLR, TRS, and DB-25, which simplifies complex cable management.
VCA Buss Linking: The R6 includes three internal link jumpers that can be configured to link the gain reduction of compressors in pairs (Channels 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6).
Road-Ready Construction: Built with a solid steel chassis, rugged rubber feet for horizontal or vertical mounting, and a collapsible handle, the R6 is designed to withstand the rigors of professional touring.
