The 34mm hand-machined, gold-sputtered S17E capsule draws on K67 geometry for its dense low-end and midrange foundation, while edge termination routes the electrical charge directly to the diaphragm through the mounting ring rather than a center screw, eliminating obstruction at the capsule’s most sensitive area for a freer, more open response. The circuit is built entirely by hand—point-to-point wiring throughout, in-house wound transformers, and the military-grade 6ZH1P tube proven across the full 017 lineage—with bodies hand-turned on the lathe and backplates individually cut, polished, and tensioned. Powered by the included dedicated PSU, the Silver 17 delivers 20dB self-noise, 140dB max SPL handling, and a 120dB dynamic range.
