SPL TDx – Transient Designer for 500 Series
The SPL TDx brings the legendary Transient Designer technology to the 500 Series format, providing level-independent dynamic processing with unparalleled control over attack and sustain. Whether you need to add punch to drums, tighten up bass, or reshape room ambience, the TDx delivers precise and musical transient shaping, all in a compact 500 Series module.
Key Features
- Legendary Transient Designer Technology: Enhance or soften transients with precise attack and sustain controls.
- Level-Independent Processing: Differential Envelope Technology (DET) ensures dynamic shaping regardless of input level.
- Parallel Processing: Blend between processed (WET) and unprocessed (DRY) signals with the Mix control.
- Simple & Intuitive Controls: Just a few knobs to achieve powerful, musical results.
- 500 Series Compatible: Single-slot module designed for 500 Series racks.
Controls & Functions
On/Bypass
The On/Bypass switch allows quick activation and deactivation of the module, making it easy to compare the processed and unprocessed signal.
Signal LED
The Signal LED (Sig) indicates when an audio signal is present at the input and exceeds -20 dB, ensuring proper signal flow.
Attack
The Attack control adjusts the amplitude of the transient phase:
- Increase Attack: Adds punch and definition, ideal for drums and percussive elements.
- Reduce Attack: Softens transients, useful for smoothing harsh recordings.
Sustain
The Sustain control shapes the decay phase:
- Increase Sustain: Extends the decay, great for adding body to room sounds.
- Reduce Sustain: Tightens up sound, useful for removing unwanted reverb or room reflections.
Mix Control
With the Mix knob, blend between processed (WET) and unprocessed (DRY) signals for precise parallel processing.
Output Control
The Output control lets you adjust the final gain, ensuring optimal levels for the next device in the signal chain.
Differential Envelope Technology (DET)
The SPL TDx utilizes Differential Envelope Technology (DET), allowing level-independent transient processing. Unlike compressors and expanders that rely on threshold-based detection, the TDx shapes transients purely based on their envelope characteristics. This results in natural, dynamic processing without compression artifacts.
Premium Build & Sound Quality
- Through-Hole Technology: High-quality components ensure pristine sound performance.
- Transparent Processing: No coloration or phase artifacts.
- Hand-Tested in Germany: Developed for professional audio applications.
