Solid State Logic Odyssey 24-Channel Recording Console with Center Rack and Channel Rack

The Solid State Logic Odyssey 24-Channel Recording Console brings SSL’s Future Analogue platform to mid-size studios in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and recording facilities worldwide — combining the sonic authority of classic SSL in-line architecture with ActiveAnalogue Instant Recall technology that makes complete console states restorable, comparable, and switchable in real time. Each of the 24 channels delivers a fully analogue, recallable signal chain: PureDrive mic preamp with Drive control, four-band parametric EQ with switchable E and G Series characteristics, channel Compressor/Limiter and Gate/Expander dynamics, assignable high- and low-pass filters, a 60mm motorised Small Fader, and a 100mm Large Fader — placing the full SSL analogue palette under direct hands-on control without requiring menu navigation. The 24-channel Odyssey ships with a Center Rack and one Channel Rack, housing all analogue circuitry in 13U 19″ rack units that can be positioned within the console, floor-mounted in the control room, or located remotely in a machine room. The O-Control Application Suite and O-Motion automation system extend console operation into DAW workflows on Windows and macOS, enabling sessions to be configured offline, recalled instantly, and automated with the precision of Pro Tools or Logic Pro playlists.

Key Features

  • ActiveAnalogue Instant Recall technology — complete console states — all 24 channels plus centre section — can be stored, recalled, compared, and switched in real time; 16,000-step resolution across all controllable parameters delivers the immediacy of hands-on analogue operation with the accuracy required for precise, repeatable settings; full mix A/Bs, alternate balances, and revision-led changes are immediate rather than disruptive
  • PureDrive mic preamps with Drive control — high-performance analogue mic preamp on every channel; Drive control allows the character of the preamp to be shaped from pristine, reference-grade accuracy through to warm, driven tones, giving engineers a wide analogue palette within the channel strip itself
  • SSL four-band parametric EQ — switchable E and G Series — fully analogue, instantly recallable; E Series delivers bold, assertive presence and edge; G Series offers broader, more refined musical control; selectable HF and LF shelf/bell curves plus switchable mid-band Q behaviour provide precision for everything from subtle correction to decisive creative shaping; EQ is assignable between the Small and Large Fader paths
  • Channel Compressor/Limiter and Gate/Expander dynamics — fully analogue, instantly recallable; Compressor/Limiter features signal-dependent Attack, Fast Attack switching, RMS or Peak sensing, and dedicated Wet/Dry Mix for in-channel parallel compression; Gate/Expander offers Inf:1 Gate and 2:1 Expansion modes with variable Range, Threshold, Release, and Hold; sidechain routing supports de-essing, frequency-dependent compression, keyed gating, and dynamic movement
  • True in-line architecture — 60mm motorized Small Fader and 100mm Large Fader per channel — separate record and monitor paths with independent input gain, output level control, and processing routing; both paths feature independent switchable Insert points and Direct Outputs for capturing analogue sources, processed signals, stems, or individual tracks directly into the DAW
  • Integrated THE BUS+ and Analogue Dynamic EQ — THE BUS+ is built into the centre section and offers four modes of operation including Low THD, Feed Back, and 4K Saturation modes alongside Dynamic EQ, Transient Expander, and additional processors; fully recallable via ActiveAnalogue technology
  • Bus architecture — 34 mix buses per channel — 4 stereo Main Mix Buses (Main A plus B, C, and D); 16 Track Buses (mono or stereo odd/even pairs); 10 Auxiliary Buses (configurable as individual mono sends or stereo linked pairs); 8 fader-controlled Stereo Group Inputs; 3 stereo Foldback buses; each Large and Small Fader path routes independently or simultaneously to any combination
  • Flexible stereo and immersive monitoring — multiple control room monitor sets; three independent Foldback feeds; surface headphone output; four stereo external source inputs; After Fade, Pre Fade, Solo In Front, and Solo In Place monitoring from channels, Stereo Group Inputs, and buses; supports third-party immersive systems including Dolby Atmos renderer for spatial production from the main listening position
  • Advanced DAW control — assignable per bay — powered by SSL 360°; each 8-channel bay can be independently switched between analogue processing and DAW control via the FOCUS key; engineers can ride DAW tracks, navigate sessions, and control workstation functions without leaving the listening position
  • O-Motion automation system — records console moves into Pro Tools automation playlists or Logic Pro lanes for playback, editing, copying, trimming, and tempo-syncing; each O-Motion plug-in instance is assignable to any console Channel, VCA Group, Aux, Stereo Group, or Main bus
  • O-Control Application Suite — O-Setup, O-Session, and O-Overview provide online and offline configuration, session management, and console control on Windows and macOS; projects, presets, snapshots, and processing sections can be prepared and inspected before the session begins; O-Overview displays metering, fader positions, and cut/solo status across all channels
  • TouchView and Navigator system — adjusting any EQ, dynamics, or routing control immediately presents a graphic display of that processing section in the meter display above the channel; Navigator provides fast “scroll and control” access to advanced parameters, switch functions, and signal routing across the surface
  • Linked stereo channel pairs — matched to within 0.01dB — odd/even channel pairs can be linked for stereo operation; channels are matched to within a hundredth of a dB for precisely balanced stereo mic gain, EQ, and dynamics processing across keyboards, drum machines, stereo effects returns, submixes, and stems
  • Modular rack design — remotely locatable — all analogue circuitry housed in dedicated 13U 19″ processing racks separate from the console surface; racks can be installed within the console, floor-mounted, rack-mounted in the control room, or located in a separate machine room; active cooling maintains consistent performance with an acoustic noise floor below NR25
