Telefunken ELA M 260 Cardioid

The Telefunken ELA M 260 is one of the few small diaphragm tube microphones in production today, combining a vintage-inspired NOS Philips 5840W vacuum tube circuit with a hand-assembled USA body and the transient accuracy and focused pickup of an edge-terminated small diaphragm cardioid. The TK60 Cardioid capsule pairs with a custom American-made Telefunken Elektroakustik T60 output transformer to produce a flattering tonal character and open top end that complements acoustic instruments — strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion — without the clinical edge that many condensers can introduce. The ELA M 260 Cardioid ships as a complete, ready-to-record system with a power supply, elastic shock mount, cable, and carrying case. For engineers and producers looking to add genuine tube character to small diaphragm recording without sacrificing precision or transient response, the ELA M 260 is a compelling and well-resolved choice.
