Thermionic Culture Earlybird 4 4-Channel Valve Mic Preamp

The Thermionic Culture Earlybird 4 is a 4-channel valve mic preamp built around a push-pull Class A amplification circuit, delivering 3dB to 62dB of clean valve gain with switchable input impedance per channel. Simplifying the individual channel circuitry to fit four channels into a single 19” unit has allowed the per-channel specifications to rise, making this the most transparent-sounding version of the Earlybird preamp design. The circuit is entirely point-to-point hardwired throughout, and input and output transformers are custom-designed in collaboration with Sowter for minimum phase shift and maximum headroom. Two switchable VU meters and four peak indicator LEDs provide comprehensive output monitoring across all four channels.
