TK Audio T-KOMP 500

TK Audio T-Komp 500

The T-Komp 500 offers a modern take on the old vari-mu ratio curve with a unique design that features a progressive ratio increasing with the threshold level.

Key Features

  • Progressive ratio which increases with the threshold level.
  • Two ratio ranges, 1:1 to 20:1 or soft 1:1 to 2:1.
  • Five RMS settings, fast to slow and an adaptive mode.
  • Classic 160vu RMS mode.
  • Blend control for easy parallel compression.
  • Feed-forward compression.

The T-Komp 500 has two ratio ranges to enhance its usefulness. The first range goes up to 20:1, ideal for instrument tracking and smashing drums. The second range, up to 2:1, is more suitable for soft compression. The RMS detector has five settings, from fast to slow, with the fourth setting resembling the classic 160VU. The fifth position is a program-dependent adaptive mode.

  • Input impedance: 24kohm
  • Output impedance: 50ohm
  • Max in/output level: +26dBu
  • Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz +/- 0.1dB
  • Signal to noise ratio @ 0dBu: better than 94dB
  • THD: level and compression dependent, mostly even harmonics

  • Threshold
  • Make-up gain: 0 to +20dB
  • Blend control: from dry to wet
  • Average timing:
    • 1mS / 40mS (most useful for peak limiting)
    • 5mS / 200mS
    • 10mS / 400mS
    • 25mS / 1000mS (similar to the old 160vu)
    • Adaptive mode
  • The attack and release are locked in relationship to each other
  • In: compression in/out
  • 2:1: selects a more narrow ratio range
  • Gain reduction meter
