This Universal Audio 1176LN has been fully tested by our expert team and comes with a money back guarantee and lifetime support.
Few pieces of studio equipment have earned the status of the Universal Audio 1176LN. Originally designed by Bill Putnam Sr. in 1967 as the solid-state successor to his tube limiters, the 1176 was the first true peak limiter with all-transistor circuitry and its ultra-fast FET gain reduction, Class A output stage, and custom-wound output transformer gave it a punchy, aggressive character that engineers immediately recognized as something special. The UA reissue, introduced in 1999 as the company’s very first product, is a point-to-point handwired faithful recreation of the Blackface C, D, and E revisions the revisions most prized by engineers built at UA’s custom shop in California. Four push-button compression ratios (4:1, 8:1, 12:1, and 20:1) cover everything from subtle leveling to hard limiting, with attack times as fast as 20 microseconds. Engaging all four ratio buttons simultaneously triggers the legendary “All Buttons In” mode a happy accident that produces an overdriven, aggressive compression character unlike anything else. On vocals, drums, bass, guitars, or virtually any source, the 1176LN doesn’t just control dynamics; it makes things sound bigger, more present, and more alive.
