Coil Audio is a boutique American preamp maker based in Lawrence, Kansas, dedicated to reviving the circuit designs and component philosophies that defined professional audio in the 1930s through the 1960s. Each preamp in the CA series pays tribute to a specific lineage — the CA-286 traces its roots to classic European EF86 tube amplifiers made popular by Telefunken and Langevin, while the CA-70 draws from the Western Electric octal tube circuit that RCA and Gates carried through the golden era of American broadcasting. Every unit is built around NOS tubes, custom Coil Audio transformers, paper-and-oil capacitors, and mil-spec resistors, then hand-assembled and tested in the USA. The result is a modular preamp system with the tonal richness and harmonic depth of a vintage original, built to last generations.
