Hilbe Mo5 500-Series Microphone Preamp

The Hilbe Mo5 is a 500-series microphone preamp based on the classic Metropolitan Desk design built in-house by Motown circa 1965. Tom Hilbe Equipment brokered and restored that desk in 2008 for Uptone Recorders in Tacoma, Washington, and reconfigured its mic preamp design for 500-series production along the way. The signal path uses N.O.S. Beyer input transformers, N.O.S. 709 op-amps, and new-stock Jensen JT123 output transformers. It is a no-frills, back-to-basics mic preamp, with a pad, phase reverse, and 48V phantom power on simple toggle buttons.
